The exam pattern for the SSC GD (General Duty) Constable consists of the following four stages:
The first step is a computer-based test (also known as CBT).
The computer-based test (CBT) is taken entirely online and is comprised of one hundred questions with varying answer options.
- The time allotted for the exam is one hour and ten minutes.
- The test consists of four sections: general intelligence and reasoning, general knowledge and general awareness, elementary mathematics, and English/Hindi. Each subject tests a different set of skills.
- Every question that is answered correctly receives one point, while each erroneous answer results in a loss of 0.25 points.
PET, or the Physical Efficiency Test, is the second stage.
- The PET is used to evaluate how physically fit the candidates are before they move on to the next round.
- Candidates who identify as male are required to run 5 kilometres in 24 minutes, whilst candidates who identify as female are required to run 1.6 kilometres in 8.5 minutes.
- In the case of male candidates, the height should be 170 centimetres, and the chest should measure 80 centimetres when contracted and 85 centimetres when expanded. Candidates must meet a minimum height requirement of 157 centimetres to be considered.
The third stage is known as the Physical Standard Test (PST).
- The PST is used to evaluate the candidates’ level of physical preparedness for the position.
- The applicants have their height, chest circumference, and weight measured by the prerequisites.
The fourth stage is the physical examination.
- The final stage consists of a medical examination that is performed to determine whether or not the candidates are physically fit.
- Candidates who are successful in passing each of the aforementioned stages will be considered for appointment as SSC GD Constables.
- Take note that the candidates’ Stage 1 scores will be taken into consideration in the subsequent phases of the selection process.
