About BARC ( Bhabha Atomic Research Centre ):
The full sort of BARC is that the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre. BARC is India’s leading nuclear research centre with the most office in Trombay, Maharashtra, Mumbai. BARC could be a different disciplines research centre with comprehensive, advanced research & development infrastructure including the entire range of engineering, nuclear science & related fields.
BARC ‘s fundamental objective is to preserve secure atomic energy activities, mainly for energy production. It handles all aspects of nuclear energy, including theoretical reactor technology to computerized modelling and simulation, new reactor fuel materials development, risk analysis & evaluation, etc.
History of BARC:
Dr Homi Jehangir Bhabha began the nuclear program in India. He founded TIFR (Tata Institute of Fundamental Research) in 1945 for the research in nuclear science.
Dr Bhabha founded AEET (Atomic Energy Establishment, Trombay) in January 1954 to strengthen the nuclear facilities and leverage atomic energy for the country’s improvement.
Dr Bhabha also founded numerous BARC training centres to fulfill the energy demands of research & development activities within the field of energy.
AEET was designated as BARC (Bhabha Atomic Research Center) in 1966 after Dr Bhabha ‘s death on 22 January 1967.
The BARC expertise proceeded the nuclear research programmes, assuming to make India independent within the field of electricity generation.
BARC research on various sectors
BARC is indeed researching various field including,
- Using Nuclear fuel recycling
- Medicine field
- Agricultural sector
- It is also in command of the country’s smooth operation of the various nuclear reactors.
Nuclear waste management process then on.
Atomic Energy has a key role in reducing the carbon intensity of the overall Power sector of India. Thermal power generation from all sources contributes 234,048 MW, which is 60% of the total installed power while renewables, hydro and nuclear contribute 95,875 MW (25%), 51,220 MW (13%) and 6,780 MW (up to 2%) respectively. Source National Power Portal.
While renewable sources of energy are environment friendly, they are intermittent sources of power. Nuclear power, being a non-intermittent and concentrated source of power with negligible carbon footprint, is an essential component of the Indian power-mix to meet the International environmental commitments of India.
India has limited domestic uranium resources while we have abundant Thorium. To exploit Thorium, our planners have envisaged the Three Stage Nuclear Power Program.
Training Schemes and Employment Description for Engineering & Science Disciplines:
BARC Training Schools provide two Training Schemes to deserving candidates ambitious of pursuing a rewarding career in Nuclear Science, Engineering, and Technology

Selection Process:
Screening to short-list candidates followed selectively Interviews of the short-listed candidates.
There is a separate Selection Process for every of the disciplines
A. Screening for Selection Interviews relies on two alternative methods:
(a) On the idea of Online Test:
Online Test are going to be conducted in March 2016 in each of the nine Engineering disciplines and five Science discipline in nearly forty cities spread across India.
Candidates who register for the net Test are going to beable to choose their exam center furthermore as date and time of the session within whichthey wantto seem for the net Test, subject to availability.
Allocation of the slot to candidates for taking the net Test are done on a primary come, first served basis.(b) On the idea of GATE score:
Candidates are screened certain Selection Interview on the idea of a legitimate GATE- 2016 or GATE-2017 score within the applicable GATE subject.
Applicants with a degree in ‘Nuclear Engineering’ are screened in barely on the premise of Online Test.
Candidates may note the following:
1. At the time of application, candidates can choose anyone or both of the above screening options. because the cutoff GATE scores for screening in to Selection Interviews are going to be finalized only after the conclusion of the net Test, candidates are advised to maximise their chance of being screened in to the choice Interview by availing both the Screening Channels (GATE score moreover as Online Test) detailed above.
2. Candidates who choose screening through Online Test should book an examination slot of their choice, subject to availability, by visiting this website. Alerts by email similarly as SMS are sent to any or all candidates who have opted for the net Test on their registered email addresses and mobile numbers additionally as announced on this website, before the commencement of the slot booking process. Examination slots are allocated on first come, first served basis, subject to availability. Candidates are advised to go to this website regularly for updates regarding this.
3. The candidates who have opted for screening only on the idea of a GATE Score won’t be permitted to book an examination slot for the net Test.
